Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized after being involved in a serious car accident in New Hampshire over the weekend.
According to his spokesperson, Giuliani had just assisted a woman who was the victim of domestic violence—calling 911 and remaining with her until police arrived—when his rental car was struck from behind at high speed.
The 80-year-old sustained a fractured vertebra, injuries to his left arm and leg, and multiple cuts and bruises. He was taken to a nearby trauma center, where he remains under observation.
Despite the severity of the crash, Giuliani is said to be in good spirits. His son Andrew Giuliani and a medical care team are monitoring his recovery. Doctors expect he will be discharged in the coming days, likely wearing a neck brace as he continues to heal.
His family has requested privacy during his recovery while thanking the public for their support and prayers.
