A dramatic crash occurred at Kalispell City Airport when a single-engine aircraft collided with a parked plane on the runway, sparking a fast-moving fire. The aircraft was attempting to land just after 2 p.m. when an apparent technical issue caused it to veer into another aircraft, igniting fires both on the runway and in nearby grassy areas.
Miraculously, all four occupants—the pilot and three passengers—escaped with only minor injuries, which were treated on site. The parked plane was unoccupied at the time of impact. Multiple fire departments, along with police and sheriff’s teams, responded promptly and extinguished the blaze within an hour.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The incident has been contained effectively, and no further injuries have been reported.
